Liminal

Fredric, a man overwhelmed by the chaos of his life, stands on the edge of a cliff, contemplating his fate. His life has been marred by addiction, infidelity, and failed relationships. As he leaps, he finds himself in a mysterious liminal space—a purgatory where he must confront his past transgressions. Here, Fredric faces not only the manifestations of his vices—prostitutes, alcohol, cocaine, and gambling—but also his “Shadow,” a monstrous embodiment of his darkest impulses. This Shadow acts as both a demon and a spiritual guide, challenging Fredric to confront his choices and their consequences. Through this harrowing journey, Fredric comes to understand that redemption begins with taking responsibility for his actions. The film concludes ambiguously, leaving viewers to wonder whether Fredric has found peace in death, survived the fall, or experienced a transformative near-death encounter. The final line echoes: “Redemption begins with regret.”
