Mothers

Sabira, a single mother of Algerian descent, receives devastating news at the hospital: her 11-year-old son has been hit by a car. The head of the department informs her that he will not survive. But the pain doesn’t come alone: she is asked if she would consent to having her child’s heart save the life of another boy, a patient in need of a transplant, who has been waiting for months in the same hospital.

Meanwhile, Anna, a 50-year-old Jewish mother, is infinitely grateful: her son has been given a second chance at life. Yet, a void remains within her. Driven by an overwhelming need to know the identity of the donor, she embarks on an illegal investigation to find the family and express her gratitude.

Her search takes her to the suburbs of Paris, where she befriends a broken woman trying to rebuild her life… unaware that this woman’s tragedy has given her son a new lease on life.
