A man and his sister work as pimps for a KTV at the border, luring Burmese girls to cross over and earn a living. A newly arrived mute Burmese girl, having just smuggled herself across the border, loses her wallet. Unable to understand Chinese or speak, she is temporarily taken in by the man.
The man’s arrival at the border sets her fate in motion, while her appearance becomes the consequence of his own. Their lives are bound by causality — all arising from conditions, without an inherent self. This exists because that exists; this arises because that arises.
