Echoes of Us — Grief, Memory, and Unheard Voices
The film follows a man (Deepak Tijori) who, after the sudden loss of his wife (Iulia Vantur), wanders through the remnants of their shared life. As memories resurface, he is confronted not only with his grief but also with the love he overlooked and the echoes of a woman left unheard. Filmed in Sri Lanka, the short has been part of the international festival circuit and continues to spark conversation on themes of love, neglect, and remembrance.
From Actress and Model to Producer
Pooja Batra, who was crowned Femina Miss India International 1993, is an actress and model who has primarily worked in Hindi films. Her notable performances include Virasat (1997), Haseena Maan Jaayegi (1999), Jodi No.1 (2001), Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye (2000), and Nayak (2001). More recently, she has appeared in films such as Mirror Game (2017), Draupadi Unleashed (2020), and Squad (2021). With Echoes of Us, she stepped into a new role as producer. “I’ve basically acted in movies. I’m an actor, but this is my first production,” she said. The shift came with challenges but also fulfillment: “Producer is maybe the hardest job, but I’m smiling. I’m happy.”
Teamwork Behind the Film
Batra credited her positive experience to the dedication of the team that came together for the project. “I have a great team, great set of actors… my director was amazing. My line production managers were amazing,” she said, emphasizing the collaborative effort that made the film possible. Representing her colleagues in India, she noted how excited her entire team was to have the film recognized internationally.
Looking Ahead
For Batra, the recognition was a source of excitement and momentum. “We want people to watch our movie and like it, so we get inspired to make more amazing films,” she explained. With Echoes of Us, she not only marked her producing debut but also signaled her interest in pursuing future projects that connect with audiences worldwide.
